The two lists below should give you an idea of where you stand when considering oBand® Miami and the LAP-BAND® procedure.
Factors that may improve your candidacy include:
An adult of at least 18 years of age
BMI is 40 or above -Calculate Your BMI >
Are twice (or 100 pounds above) your ideal weight
Being overweight has been a long term issue
Overweight issues are not caused by disease related factors
Alcohol is not consumed in excess
Committed to follow ups and working with specialists
Committed to making changes in your eating and lifestyle habits
Factors that suggest you may NOT be a candidate include:
Inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal tract
A heart or lung condition that will make you a poor candidate for surgery
Condition that may cause bleeding in the esophagus or stomach
Have portal hypertension
Esophagus, intestine or stomach is irregular
Suffered an intra-operative gastric injury
Cirrhosis
Chronic Pancreatitis
Currently pregnant
Alcohol or drug addiction
A minor, under 18 years of age
Have an infection that risks contaminating the surgical area
Inability to adjust to changes in dietary
